ADLER specialist coating systems

Fire-rated MDF coatings with ADLER.

Professional application of the ADLER Pyrolan Expand intumescent coating system for selected wood and wood-based materials where enhanced fire performance is required.

Safety performance with a decorative finish.

For projects requiring enhanced fire protection, we utilise the ADLER Pyrolan Expand fire-resistant coating system. This advanced water-based intumescent coating is specifically designed for wood and wood-based materials, helping improve fire performance while maintaining an attractive decorative finish.

When exposed to extreme heat, the coating expands to form an insulating protective layer that helps slow the spread of flames and reduce smoke development. This additional protection can provide valuable extra time during a fire event while helping timber and MDF components achieve demanding fire-performance requirements.

Key system characteristics

  • Fire-protection system designed for wood and MDF substrates
  • Intumescent technology that expands when exposed to high temperatures
  • Helps achieve fire classifications in accordance with EN 13501-1 system specifications
  • Water-based formulation
  • Available in a wide range of colours and decorative finishes
  • Suitable for commercial, educational, hospitality and public-sector projects
  • Professional spray application for consistent coverage across the surface area

The ADLER Pyrolan system combines safety with aesthetics, allowing MDF panels, wall linings, architectural features and bespoke joinery to maintain their design appearance without compromising the intended fire-performance system.

Important: Fire classification depends on the complete tested system, including substrate, preparation, application rate, primer/topcoat combination and installation. Project specifications should be checked before production.

Typical applications.

The system may be considered for interior timber and MDF components such as decorative wall linings, feature panels, bespoke joinery and selected architectural elements. Suitability is confirmed against the project specification rather than assumed from appearance alone.
